A monstrous compilation but only a fraction of french contemporary sound creativity. Compiled by Tristan Koreya Artwork by Jef Benech<\/p>\n

In 1985 was released by spanish label STI an obscure compilation tape of french artists, that I consider as a milestone in the history of french underground musics, and that was also the very first post on that blog : Le D\u00e9fil\u00e9 Des \u00c9paves. Some of the artists appearing on that cassette are still active today, and many many more have appeared since then.<\/p>\n

Thirty years later, I’ve decided to propose a new panorama of french underground musics, according to an inclusive definition : artists living in France whatever their nationality and french artists living abroad.<\/p>\n

Here is the result : 91 tracks (including 81 previously unreleased), more than 9 hours of amazing music covering many sub-genres of post-industrial and experimental musics (ambient, bruitism, dark ambient, drone, electroacoustic, electronica, improvised, industrial, minimal synth, minimalism, modern classical, musique concr\u00e8te, noise, post-folk, ritual, tribal, etc.). As it is a very masculine scene, I’ve done my best to invite as much women as possible : as a result, 13 artists\/tracks include a female element.<\/p>\n

Given their quality, I really think that many tracks here deserve to appear on a physical release. If a “real” label wants to organize a redux physical version of that compilation, please contact me or the artists.<\/p>\n

The compilation comes with a 12p booklet with tracklist and informations about all tracks. It is included when you download the complete album ; if you prefer to download a few tracks only, see below to download the booklet separately.<\/p>\n
